ADVOCACY DAY

March 13, 2009

The Social Action Public Policy Ministry of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, in which Pastor and Rev. Gilbert are members of, is sponsoring "Advocacy Day - Speaking for the Least of These" on Capitol Hill, Thursday April 2, 2009 in honor of the Dr. King's 41st anniversary assasination. We have asked Regional Vice Presidents, Regional General Secretarys, State Presidents, Pastors & Convention Churches to participate in this historic occasion. Individuals who cannot attend the Washington, D.C. Advocacy Day, are asked to meet with your govenor and legislators in their home state on April 2nd. I trust that you have received information from your regional and state leadership by now. A debriefing session will be held at PNBC headquarters Thursday evening, 6PM concluding  Advocacy Day. Our focus & key talking points are the following seven issues:

1. Economic Growth - Jobs & Workforce Development
2. Eco-Justice/Energy/Global Warming
3. Education
4. Healthcare
5. Housing/Foreclosures
6. Prison Reentry
7. Urban Agenda (Gangs, Guns, Drugs, Violence, & Child Welfare)

We look forward to your support in bringing hope and change to your state and country. If you have any questions, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Gerald Lamont Thomas, Chairman, Social Action & Public Policy.
